Jin Shin Do® Bodymind Acupressure®

Kinesis Health Associates is pleased to now offer  Jin Shin Do® Bodymind Acupressure®

What is Acupressure? Acupressure refers to any technique using finger pressure on particular points to release tension, reduce stress and balance the body energy or Qi.  Just as there are blood vessels which move the blood throughout the body, there are also vessels or meridians which move our energy or Qi throughout our body.  These meridians are located in interfascial spaces – i.e., between the connective tissues that support and separate all the muscles and organs.  At chronically tense points, fascial adhesions are blocking the flow of the Qi.  Releasing tension allows the Qi to flow smoothly along the meridians, which generally results in a sense of well-being.

We modern, civilized human beings often find that we have forgotten how to relax our bodies and our minds.  High expectations, tough targets and tight deadlines, competitive 24/7 cultures – this is just the tip of the iceberg, but this alone is enough to introduce mental and physical tension into our daily lives and make a serious dent in our sense of well-being.  Tension grips the muscles, and if not released soon, becomes chronic and may result in “nagging” pain, “controlled” tension, “pent-up” frustration, and/or “repressed” emotions.

Is it for You?  This clothes-on method helps relieve stress- and trauma-related problems.  It is a simple, gentle technique that offers a practical way of dealing with daily stress.  Jin Shin Do® Acupressure may be helpful for such conditions as stiff neck and shoulders, back pain, sciatica, headaches, digestive issues, sinus congestion, TMJ, among other things.

What is a Session Like? During a session, the acupressurist holds combinations of points along the meridians. You determine the depth of the pressure.  The experience is generally that sensitivity at the points is soon replaced by a pleasurable feeling of release.  Usually you will eventually feel a deep sense of relaxation.  Jin Shin Do® helps produce a better quality of life no matter what the age, condition, and well-being or distress level of those involved.  A typical session is one to one and a half hours.

Jin Shin Do® Acupressure is not intended for the diagnosis, treatment or cure of disease.  It is a relaxation therapy, and a useful adjunct to licensed, qualified medical or psychological care.  When used in conjunction with standard medical treatment, this acupressure technique can assist the healing process by releasing tension, decreasing stress and encouraging a sense of increased well-being.
