Meet Our New Athletic Therapist: Liam Toomey

Liam Toomey

Liam Toomey, Athletic Therapist

Hi everyone! My name is Liam Toomey and I am an Athletic Therapist at Kinesis Health Associates. I graduated from Acadia University in May of 2023 with a Bachelor of Kinesiology and achieved my certification as an Athletic Therapist in July of 2023. During my time at Acadia University as a student therapist, I had the opportunity to work with the men’s varsity basketball and soccer teams for the 2022/23 season while taking courses including assessment and rehabilitation, therapeutic modalities, exercise physiology and human anatomy. My time at Acadia helped me develop a passion for rehabilitation and performance, helping athletes to perform at their best and recover from injury.

After graduation, I have continued to stay involved in many different programs, including the University of King’s College basketball, soccer and volleyball teams providing on-site coverage for their ACAA competitions. I have extensive experience covering a variety of local and international competitions including the Atlantic Rugby Championship, World Beach Volleyball Tour and the 2023 North American Indigenous Games.

Being around hockey my whole life, it continues to be a passion of mine as an Athletic Therapist. This past season, I worked with the East Hants Penguins of the NSJHL providing pre and post-game assessments and treatments, including taping and bracing. Additionally I have worked with the East Coast Ice Jam hockey tournament and the Hockey Opportunities for All camp in Jay Peak Vermont.
